Does laser hair removal hurt? What to expect
Consultation + spot test are free. Booking this visit does not purchase a membership or book treatment.
Laser hair removal can involve warmth, prickling, or a snapping sensation. How it feels depends on the person, exact area, device, and settings. Cooling can support comfort, but a treatment should not be advertised as painless for everyone.
What cooling does
Lotus uses the Alma Soprano Titanium, which has contact cooling and treatment modes that deliver energy while the applicator moves. Ask your specialist which approach is proposed for your area. Cooling is part of treatment; it does not replace appropriate settings, skin assessment, or communication.
Why comfort varies
A friend may describe a gentle visit, while you find the same area more sensitive. Different body areas can also feel different. Reviews describe individual experiences and should not be treated as a prediction of your comfort or result.
Speak up during the session
Tell your provider how the treatment feels and ask for a pause if needed. Unexpected or excessive discomfort should be assessed. Ask about any proposed comfort measure before using it, especially products applied to a large area or medication you have not discussed with the clinician.
Allow for your skin’s response
Redness or sensitivity may follow treatment. Your provider should explain what is expected for your plan, which activities or products to pause, and when to contact the clinic. Persistent pain, blistering, or worsening skin changes should not be dismissed because laser was described as comfortable.
Choosing a first area
The smallest or least visible area is not automatically the best first choice. Discuss the hair you want reduced, skin condition, and any worries about the procedure. Explore treatment areas and use the consultation to agree on a suitable starting plan.
